This quilt has been hand-pieced and hand-quilted over the last two years by a very international group of women here in the Frankfurt area - we are the Taunus Quilters. It is being auctioned for charity in February.
I will probably never hand-piece or hand-quilt anything ever again as it is a very slow process and painful (I kept jabbing myself with the needle!), but I am very pleased I did it as I've learned a lot about the process of quilting. It's also given me such an appreciation for those women who hand-quilted intricate quilts by candlelight!
The actual quilting itself is hard to see in the photos - you'll have to take my word for it that this isn't simply patchwork! We're not starting another big project right away, but doing some smaller blocks for individual projects and waiting for inspiration to strike.
And that's all I've got to show for January ... I have done exactly nothing! No quilt blocks or afghan blocks, no bags or blankets. Zilch! However I am cautiously optimistic that I'll be able to do some crafting soon having found a good osteopath locally - I've had just one session so far and the improvement is dramatic and I'm going back next week with high expectations of a miracle cure. So I'm catching up on some of the things that haven't been done round the house over the last 7 months and trying to keep on top of the snow situation, which is really more than enough for anyone with back / arm problems!
